Liguria’s cuisine is strongly influenced by its climate and geographical location: the mountain ranges of the Alps and the Apennines on one side and the Ligurian Sea on the other. The region is particularly famous for its olive oil from the Taggiasca olive, excellent wines, unique focaccia and a vast variety of herbs – especially basil, which is used to make “pesto alla genovese”.
Our gourmet journey through Liguria starts with a culinary visit to the jewel of Dolceaqua before heading to a tasting at a traditional olive oil producer. On the coast, we take a culinary walk through Alassio and learn more about olive oil production – the green gold of the region – at the olive oil museum in Albenga.
During a hands-on cooking class with a local chef we learn the secrets of typical Ligurian dishes. We immerse ourselves in the ancient traditions, such as fishing. During a visit to a cheese dairy we taste different local cheese specialities. In Genoa, of course, a visit to a basil and pesto production is not to be missed! Our culinary tour through Liguria ends with a boat trip and a typical Italian aperitivo.
