From olive oil production and local cheese specialties such as mozzarella, pecorino and ricotta in Lazio to wine making and lemon groves on Campania’s Amalfi Coast, our culinary journey through Lazio and Campania brings together the culinary heritage, the wide variety of distinctive flavors and the great diversity of typical dishes of the two regions – with a breeze of “la dolce vita”.
Starting from Rome, we will embark on a first culinary experience in Priverno, tasting local specialties and visiting a “frantoio” (oil mill) that offers insights into the world of olive cultivation and typical olive varieties. The cultural aspects that the region has to offer are also not neglected – for example, during a guided tour of the Privernum archaeological park and a visit to the monastery of Fossanova.
The gourmet tour continues to the Campania region with its excellent climatic conditions and unique atmosphere. Dating back to its Greek and Etruscan roots, the wine making in Campania looks back on an impressively long tradition. Wines such as “Aglianico“, “Falanghina” and “Greco di Tufo” are today known beyond the borders of the region. We will taste typical local wines of the Amalfi Coast in Vietri sul Mare. In the picturesque village we will also dive into the world of ceramics and its thousand colors in a ceramics studio.
On a boat trip to Amalfi and a walk through its characteristic little streets, we enjoy “la dolce vita” of southern Italy. We follow the scent of citrus into Amalfi’s lemon groves and taste the most famous product of the coast with its sour, slightly sweet taste. Rounding off the gourmet tour is a culinary city walk through vibrant Naples – birthplace of pizza – and its rich culture of street food.
This tour includes two carefully selected accommodations, a cozy agriturismo in Priverno and a gorgeous bed and breakfast in Vietri sul Mare. A mix of public transport (where possible) and private transfers during the journey, as well as an experienced tour leader, contribute to a particularly authentic and unforgettable travel experience.
